Volunteering Events

Join the 'Green Team' at Skelton Grange Environment Centre - a monthly opportunity for everyone to come along and help out with some practical tasks on our site. You don't need any experience, just enthusiasm!

Get in touch to let us know if you're planning to come along to any of the events below.  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring a packed lunch. Wear old clothes that you don't mind getting mucky, and dress for the weather.

All events take place at Skelton Grange Environment Centre unless specified below.  Directions to the centre can be found here

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult for all events. Please arrive at nine thirty for a ten o'clock start. Generally sessions run until three thirty unless advertised otherwise.

Friday, February 3rd - I dig your stile!
We will be constructing new stiles and pathways in the wildlife area at the centre. Part of the Walk on the Wild Side project.

Friday, February 17th - Don't sit on the fence...

A morning of willow work including coppicing and making simple woven fences followed by a mushroom inoculation workshop in the afternoon!

Friday March 23rd - Hard graft anyone?
We are creating a new nectar bar for our thirsty butterflies and bees by preparing the soil and sowing a new meadow. This will followed by an afternoon of fruit tree grafting with the chance to graft your own apple tree. Bees love apple nectar too, so it's a double win for the bees!

Friday April 13th - The Big Bird Hide Building Bonanza...
A range of tasks for a much needed upgrade for our bird hide. Artistic and carpentry skills will come in handy!

Friday April 27th - Skelton-henge...
The creation of a new and beautiful stone circle seating area at the centre!
