A celebration of spring took place at Skelton Grange Environment Centre on Good Friday, as nearly 100 National Grid employees and their families took part in an Easter Egg hunt across the Centre's wildlife area. Families solved clues and followed a trail to claim their Easter egg prizes from the Easter Bunny!
The Centre's six-acre wildlife area was full of signs of spring, with new leaves and blossom on the trees, and tadpoles in the ponds. The event allowed National Grid families to explore the beautiful site, which is usually only open to visiting school groups and playschemes. The event finished with a raffle to raise funds for the Centre's valuable work with schoolchildren from across Leeds and Wakefield.
Skelton Grange Environment Centre is a partnership between National Grid and BTCV, with support from Leeds City Council. National Grid supports a network of environmental education centres such as Skelton Grange, which offer imaginative, hands-on environmental education activities to help thousands of children learn about the natural world.
"It was lovely to see so many people enjoying the spring weather and exploring our site, and the children were all very excited to meet the Easter Bunny!" said Centre Manager Caroline Crossley. "It was a great opportunity for local National Grid staff to find out more about what we have to offer".
