A celebration of Spring took place at Skelton Grange Environment Centre on Good Friday, as nearly 100 National Grid employees, family and friends took part in an Easter Egg hunt across the Centre’s wildlife area. Families solved clues and followed a trail to claim their Easter egg prizes.
Skelton Grange Environment Centre is an innovative environmental education project near South Leeds, which is run by BTCV in partnership with National Grid and Leeds City Council. The centre works mostly with primary schools and playschemes, running interactive, active, hands on activities to get children involved in the natural environment. It relies on volunteers and donations to help deliver its activities and to maintain and develop the centre and wildlife area for people to enjoy.
The Centre’s six-acre wildlife area was full of signs of spring, with the wildflower meadows starting to bloom, new leaves and blossom on the trees, and tadpoles in the ponds. The event allowed National Grid families to explore the beautiful site, which is usually only open to visiting school groups and playschemes.
