Waste Free Lunch
Every class that visits Skelton Grange is entered into our Waste Free Lunch Competition. All you have to do to win is not make much rubbish at lunch time. Easy right? It might sound easy, but your whole class will have to think really hard about what you bring to eat at lunchtime.
Three Bins

Leftover bits of food can go in our compost bin (except meat).

Into our green recycling bin you can put these things (and ONLY these things)
- Plastic bottles
- Drinks cans
- Food cans
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Plastic bags

And everything else needs to go into our black rubbish bin. At the end of lunchtime we'll weigh it to see how much rubbish your class made.
How to do Well
You'll need to think about which types of food don't need wrappers, because most wrappers will have to go in the black bin. Think about bringing fruit instead of a chocolate bar or crisps (plus fruit is better for you!).To really impress us you could try to not fill up our green bin either. Reusing things is even better than recycling because we don't have to keep on making new things all the time. Instead of a bag, you could use a lunchbox. Instead of a can (goes in green bin) or a carton (goes in black bin) maybe you could try taking the same bottle home and refill it every day?
What you could win
If your class wins our competition we'll visit your school to give your class some prizes along with a special certificate, and your school will get a trophy to keep for the term.Plus there's the possibility of a super special surprise prize, which we can't tell you much about, other than it's very exciting.
Sometimes, if we're blown away and amazed by how well we think a class has tried, we'll send them a special certificate of commendation, even if they don't win.
