Skelton Grange is managed by BTCV, a national vounteer charity, and as such we take supporting and developing our volunteers very seriously.  The BTCV Volunteer Officer scheme is nationally recognised as being a well structured way to begin a career in the voluntary or environment sectors, with plenty of good quality training opportunities.

Our regular volunteers learn how to teach visiting primary school children environmental education activities, as well as getting involved in practical conservation work in our wildlife gardens. Find out more about the volunteering experience and the answers to some frequently asked questions.

We offer different volunteering experiences depending upon how much time you are able to give:

Please contact us for more information about volunteer vacancies and which kinds of position we currently have the capacity to support.

Please note that all Volunteer Officer and volunteer posts at Skelton Grange involve working with children and therefore a positive attitude towards children is essential.

BTCV is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  References for prospective volunteers will be followed up and an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check will be carried out before volunteering opportunities begin. Only relevant convictions will be taken into account, and the process will be strictly confidential. A comprehensive induction process will include training in how to work safely and appropriately with vulnerable groups.
