Friends of Skelton Grange

Volunteers improving the siteOur work at Skelton Grange Environment Centre is also keenly supported by the Friends of Skelton Grange, also known as the Slug Group.

The Friends of Skelton Grange is an independent group which supports the work of BTCV at Skelton Grange Environment Centre.

The group runs practical tasks to improve the centre, training opportunities, open days and trips to other projects and locations to help inspire volunteers and generate new ideas. The group recently secured a grant from Community Spaces to create a new nature trail at the centre. The Walk on the Wild Side project is launching on the 27th of January 2012 and will include workdays on willow tunnels, the bird hide, mosaics, musical instruments and much more.

Other ecent work has included running a range of community training days at the centre, including bushcraft, wild food and wildlife surveying. The group has also carried out extensive tree planting work to develop new woodland spaces at the centre, and has created a new adventure play trail.

Members of the group receive regular updates about what is going on at the centre, and have an opportunity to feed into our work. If you are a former volunteer from the centre and want to be kept in touch, or are just keen to support the work we do at Skelton Grange then get in touch.

Support the Group

If you would like to lend your support to the Friends of Skelton Grange you can either make a donation or help out with a Community Volunteering day (Slug Day). If you would like to find out more about how to join the group please get in touch.

We also need volunteers to help out with the Executive Committee of the Group, in order to assist with planning events and managing the finances of the group.

Currently the Executive Committee is as follows:
President: Paul Fieldhouse
Treasurer: Catherine Nuttgens
Secretary: Peter Ward
