BTCV Green Gym

BTCV Green Gyms provide physical activity and health benefits through environmental conservation. Since 1997, over 60 Green Gyms have been established across the UK and have so far been primarily aimed at adults.

Building on this success, and thanks to funding from the Department of Health, BTCV nationally are now in a position to develop a Green Gym model for children and young people, in response to current concerns over obesity and physical inactivity of this age group.

Current research reveals that approximately 1 in 4 children and young people in Leeds (aged 0 - 19) are now overweight and 1 in 8 are obese (Rudolph et al*).
