Wild in the Woods
Forest Schools at Skelton Grange
The Wild in the Woods Project takes place in our small woodland, where children and young people are given the opportunity to learn new skills, have lots of fun and realise their abilities in a completely new type of environment.
The Wild in the Woods Approach
- We aim to encourage and inspire individuals of any ability through positive outdoor experiences.
- We facilitate participation in engaging, achievable tasks, games and activities.
- We positively support individuals in fulfilling their potential, while aiding the development of personal, social, health and emotional skills.
Example Activities
Following treasure trails; setting group trails for each other; flora and fauna ID; making objects from natural resources found in the woods; shelter building; fire lighting and cooking. Most sessions will also incorporate team games and challenges, as well as music and environmental art.Wild in the Woods runs on the principles of Forest Schools - an education initiative, originating in Denmark, which aims to develop opportunities for children and adults of all ages and abilities to have stimulating, positive outdoor experiences within a woodland environment.
