Everything comes from somewhere, everything has to go somewhere

Resource pack

The Sort-It! resource pack has been designed to bring waste to life in the primary classroom. We hope that you find it a fun, convenient and memorable way of teaching your class about waste.

The resource pack consists of a series of three short films and a pack filled with activities to complement them. We recommend that you have a look at the activity pack before showing the films to your class.

NB: To view the videos full-screen, select "Go to google video" from the menu to the bottom-right of the videos shown below.

Landfill

Go on a trip to a landfill site to explore what waste is and where things go when we throw them away. (13 min)

Recycle

Follow the journey made by some recyclable materials after they are put into a recycling bin. The film goes on to explain why recycling is good for the environment and introduces a 4-step plan to help us recycle at home. (16 min)

Compost

Investigate how waste is dealt with in the natural world and how this relates to composting. The film then gives a clear guide to how we can compost. (13 min)
